Clarity over promise
Most marketing is sold on promise. We'd rather be judged on what's actually measurable, even when that's a less exciting pitch.
A marketing recommendation is only as good as the diagnosis underneath it. We'd rather spend the first part of an engagement finding out what's actually happening — even when that takes longer and produces a less flattering initial picture — than propose a solution to a problem we haven't confirmed exists.
This means we sometimes tell a prospective client that a channel they've asked about isn't the right next investment, or that a structural problem needs fixing before any campaign will show its true performance. We'd rather say that upfront than take the budget anyway.
